What is Spiritual Mediumship?
Spiritual mediumship is the practice of connecting with spirits, ancestors, and divine energies to receive messages, guidance, and healing. It is an ancient tradition that spans across cultures and belief systems, serving as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Mediums act as conduits, using their heightened sensitivities to communicate with entities beyond the veil. This sacred practice is deeply rooted in spirituality, intuition, and an understanding of metaphysical energy.
Mediumship can take various forms, including:
Mental Mediumship
Receiving messages through thoughts, visions, or inner knowing
Trance Mediumship
Allowing spirits to temporarily communicate through the medium’s body
Physical Mediumship
Manifesting spiritual energy through tangible phenomena like sounds, objects moving, or even spirit materialization
Healing Mediumship
Channeling divine energy to bring spiritual or physical healing to individuals
How is Mediumship Defined?
While different spiritual traditions interpret mediumship in unique ways, the core definition remains the same: it is a divine gift that allows communication between the spirit world and the living. Mediumship is not only about messages from loved ones who have passed but also about receiving wisdom from higher beings, spirit guides, and ancestors. This practice plays a vital role in personal healing, spiritual enlightenment, and guidance.
In Vodou, ancestral veneration is a cornerstone of spiritual practice, and mediumship aligns deeply with the concept of working with the spirits for protection, wisdom, and insight. The act of opening oneself as a vessel to receive sacred messages is an honored and powerful gift.
